Bio

Timon Persoon holds a Master of Music degree in Composition and Music Production from the Utrecht School of the Arts and has taught numerous courses and workshops in music production and creative processes. Since 2024, he has been a guest lecturer in the Pop Master’s programme at the Conservatory of Amsterdam.

He currently works as a musician/composer for dance and physical theatre, and is based in Amsterdam. Using live electronics and production techniques, Persoon creates cinematic and surreal or abstract soundtracks. His sound recalls the world of arthouse cinema, where eeriness and calmness can coexist. With a sense for dramaturgy and storytelling his work explores the inner logic of every performance as a main inspiration.

Over the past couple years his collaborations have grown within the performance field, creating works for theaters in The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. In close collaboration with theatremaker Gerben Vaillant, Persoon develops a practice which combines composing, performing and dramaturgy in the process of making theatre. Their recent work ‘On Almost Every Page’ was critically acclaimed and received a nomination for the VSCD Mime/ Performance Price 2025.

Alongside his work for theatre, Persoon has a profound background in pop music, both in creating and producing songs as well as in performing them live. He has appeared on stage as a lead singer, but primarily as a keyboard player, performing numerous shows in the Netherlands and abroad.

In 2018, Persoon received his Bachelor of Music from the Pop Department at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. In the following years, Persoon played a key role in shaping the sound of The Visual, a band founded by Amor van Rij. In 2019, they performed at festivals like Best Kept Secret and The Great Escape (UK), and released their debut album Moments of Being. After the release of their third studio album, A Night by the Shore, the group parted ways. Persoon is currently performing live with the Belgian band Amatorski, who released their latest album, Curves and Bends, Things Veer, in 2024.
