Swimming Studies
2022
An atmospheric, postapocalyptic landscape of decay in which people try to find their place.
Gerben Vaillant studied mime, which is where his love of working from the body came together with his desire to capture the distance between people and the world in which they live. Like a sculptor, he searches for the right materials to do so: movement, text, music, philosophy, architecture, trash… everything is used to give precise form to abstract atmospheres and unnamed feelings. In this atmospheric performance swimming studies (the other everything), a world is created and then meticulously torn down. Bodies in neon swimwear roam through the rubble where a swimming pool once stood. Their bare skin looks soft next to metal beams, shattered glass, and broken tiles. From the old diving board, you have a beautiful view of everything that used to be there. In an alienating, postapocalyptic landscape of decay, we see people at their most naked, torn out of their context. They try to find a new place for themselves, to adapt to a world that works differently than expected. Everything is reconsidered. In that landscape, we will dance

The Other Everthing (research)
2022
The Other Everything is een ambigue mime-performance die het publiek meeneemt in een sferische paradox: een heimwee naar een plek waar we nog niet geweest zijn, een zoektocht naar eeuwigheid en volledigheid in een wereld die dat nooit kan zijn.
Directing and concept: Gerben Vaillant
Performers: Charlotte Gillain, Kirsty Baker and Joao Dinis Pinho
Music and Performance: Timon Persoon
Coaching: Aukje Verhoog
Productie: Frascati Producties
Meisjes en Messen
2022
Spel/concept: Jantien Fick
Regie: Silke van Kamp
Dramaturgie: Babette Kalker
Tekstbijdrage: Iona Daniel
Coaching: Liet Lenshoek

The Visual, an Amsterdam-based outfit, revolves around our most acute perceptions. Our awakenings. Our sense of being. Like a living organism, their music traverses and wanders out on its own. “I opted for a word that was clear, open and non-partisan,” singer/guitaristAnnaVan Rij explains.“The idea of entering a new experience. It was all very instinctive.” With co-founder Timon Persoon, the Amsterdam-based unit has become a vehicle where the more elusive, specific experiences and observations are expressed in this very intrusive, tactile fashion.
The group has been taking The Netherlands by storm since the release of their debut EP Translation in 2017 at a sold out Melkweg in Amsterdam, becoming one of the most hotly tipped bands emerging in the Dutch music scene, with significant coverage on important tastemaker platforms, and support from streaming, radio and press. They were named ‘One To Watch in 2019’ by Dutch broadcaster 3VOOR12, and their recent single ‘Figure’ was premiered by U.K. blog Gigwise, who stated: ‘Anna van Rij’s voice, cool and evanescent as the morning dew, veers between melancholy lethargy and emotionally wrought upper-register bends. Partner in crime Timon Persoon does his ‘voodoo soundman’ bit on keys, crafting a proper three-dimensional sound landscape at the tender locus of soundtrack and songwriting’. The Visual released their full length debut album ‘Moments of Being’ on UK/NL based label Mink Records on March 31st 2019 and played at Best Kept Secret Festival and BBC6 Radio that same year.

Rhou Band
Music Project
“Everything flows and nothing stays” is a quote from Heraclitus to which Rhou owes their name. Rhou means ‘the flow of a river.’ This philosphu grows into their lyrics and music as well as into the live visuals created by visual artist: Jaromir Mulders.
The music of Rhou can be described as eclectic and a collaboration between mystical soundscapes and down to earth electronics. Their dutch lyrics alternate between emotional longing and unexpected absurdity, inviting the listener for participation in imagination. The lyrics are especially inspired by the existenstialists in philosophy. Creating existential questions and confusions in a playful way as a red line in the songs.
Members: Timon Persoon (lyrics, vocals, synths) Djamilo Both (drums, electronics) Mats Deckers (bass, electronics)
Ons bed is de Savanne
Music Project
At the 28th of January Milou Mignon released her project called ‘Ons bed is de Savanne’. I’ve had the chance to work with her, improvising in a dark room with other artists I’ve never met or spoken before. Milou Mignon is great in setting up this enchanting creative environment as a base for her music.
The project was released in ‘De School’ in Amsterdam where the audience traveled trough different rooms of music improvisation and the storytelling of Milou.

Big thanks to ‘Voor de kunst’ and all the supporters of the crowdfunding.
Rampike is a collaboration between lyricist Blanka Pesja and sound artist Timon Persoon. Together they were inspired by the life of a tree. “This silent and seemingly static life form is often taken for granted. We believe that by making an assumed silence audible we will enhance the appreciation of a tree’s existence. Their slow growth, density and fungal collaborations are but a few of the characteristics that inspired our poetry and soundscapes.”
The album is also available on vinyl produced by a sustainable process using silkscreen method for the cover and pressed by Green Vinyl Records.

FILM
Revolution
Monitors occupy the majority of our daily lives. Perhaps unconsciously. CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) is getting more realistic every day. This blurs the boundary between reality and the images generated by our computer. This transition is inevitable. What does this mean for humanity and their perception of reality?

Banana
Directing: Una S. Golmen
Camera: Ola Kvamsdal
Sound: Stine Bergan
Music: Timon Persoon
On the one hand, this movie tells stories of young people’s personal boundaries and sexuality, and when these boundaries were violated. On the other hand you will experience the despair felt by director Una Golmen in her quest to get answers from responsible bureaucrats. Banan is a socially critical documentary setting bureaucracy up against the sexual health of young people.
